You know what look you want, but how do you tell your hairdresser? The last thing anybody wants is one of those WTF moments in the salon, you want to leave the salon with the amazing hair you have dreamed about!
The most important part of any hair service is the consultation. If your hairdresser picks up a pair of scissors or a colour bowl before a really thorough discussion... get out of their chair immediately. For me the consultation is how I develop a relationship with my clients, it allows me to understand their hair, and them too, your hair is part of your personality and I want them to match.
Let us find a solution
Sometimes the easiest thing to do is start with the problems. What did you dislike about your last haircut, did you have trouble styling it when you left the salon? The colour did not work for you? Knowing what you dislike is a constructive way to solving your hair problems.
Speak the same language
Perhaps the stylist talks a language you do not understand? Balayage, bangs, hard lines, texture. Get them to ‘back that truck up’ and explain, even if it takes a few tries to get on the same page, it is worth it. You are not being annoying we all want the same thing.
Seen a picture of some amazing hair you want? Screenshot it and show your stylist, or bring the magazine you saw it in. We love to see what colours excite you, what shapes you would love for your hair. Using our online booking option you can even upload photos so we can start the thought process before you walk in the door.
Want the bad news?
Some styles aren’t for everyone and a professional stylist will not try the impossible. I like to ensure that the style we set out to achieve matches your hair type and natural growth patterns, this does not stop us from having some fun with your hair.
That dangerous word short
Get your stylist to show you how much they will cut off and talk about the front, back and sides. One clients short is another clients shorter and the hardest phrase to understand is ‘just a trim.’ If you want different layers in a specific place, speak up, we want our clients to be happy.
Styling at home
Your hairstylists can make your hair look good but the secret is actually in the products. We stock the full range of De Lorenzo Haircare products so make sure you ask what we are using and how exactly you can use it. It is also important to find out which shampoo you should be using and how often.
